Not only are bananas tasty snacks, they are very nutritious as well! They contain many vitamins and minerals that promote good function and health for our bodies. Bananas are known for their high amounts of potassium, about 422 mg., which provides protection to our cardiovascular system. They contain about 3.1g of fiber that helps our digestive tract run smoothly. Each banana is about 110 calories, containing almost no fats, which makes them great as a low calorie snack. Although bananas are higher in carbs than most fruit, this makes them a great pre-workout snack. They give you the energy to keep you on the go!
Although bananas in raw form are very convenient as a quick snack, there are other ways to use them in your diet. Making banana bread or peanut butter banana bites can serve as a delicious snack. Also try adding bananas into a smoothie with other fruits of your choice or as a dessert make a healthier version of banana pudding.
Next time you are looking for a nutritious snack or addition to a meal, grab a banana!
